The flag plays an important role since time immemorial in communicating in many areas. With flags confirmed their power kings, explorers claimed new shores and put the man's first steps on the moon.

Flags symbolize war and peace, joy and sorrow. They play a prominent role in political and cultural changes in the world. Can be said that the flag carries a universal language. Remember the blue flag of the United Nations, to the flag of the International Red Cross or to the flags. The shipping industry has always been a close relationship with flags. This is in particular to the overall communication that is possible through various flags. All the scenarios, ships through the use of flags together clear.

Foundation Flag Parade Rotterdam
Such a symbol deserves its own place to shine where people pass daily. And where better than in Rotterdam, a city with a large harbor and of international trade. That comes with the Netherlands one of the leading flag manufacturers in the world. The choice was quickly made for Rotterdam.

For this reason foundation Flag Parade in Rotterdam in 1998 began its journey to a Flag parade of 230 Flags to achieve. 230 Flags side by side on one of the busiest locations in Rotterdam, the Boompjes Boulevard.
Thanks to the effort of the Foundation Vlaggenparade Rotterdam, Rotterdam has a "outdoor museum" to be proud of.

The museum does not yet have an exhibition space for a museum with information, documentation, education, and research. For now, the Foundation all efforts aimed at realizing the outdoor exhibition. Also with the financial support of the municipality of Rotterdam and the contributions of the founding members and sponsors, has managed to become 230 flag poles along the right riverbank to place.

The board of Rotterdam Foundation Vlaggenparade also managed at the national level to work with a Committee recommendation. Many people support the museum and its initiatives.

In 2000, the first part of the Flag Parade opened by the mayor of Rotterdam IW Opstelten. On March 30, 2005, the entire Flag Parade grand opening.
